What is an Individualized Education Program (IEP)?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a legally binding document developed for children with a disability need. It outlines a tailored educational plan designed to meet each child’s unique requirements. The IEP is created through collaboration between parents, educators, and specialists, and it includes:

  • Current Performance: A detailed overview of the child’s current abilities and areas of need.

  • Goals: Specific, measurable annual goals that address the child's educational needs.

  • Services: A description of the special education services and supports the child will receive.

  • Accommodations: Adjustments to the learning environment or teaching methods to help the child succeed.

  • Participation: Information on how the child will participate in general education settings and activities.

  • Progress Monitoring: Methods for tracking and reporting the child's progress toward the IEP goals.

Below, you can find important documents to help guide you through the IEP process and ensure that your child receives the support they need.
